August 7, 2026 | A Dream Reminded Me That a Sense of Reality Is Not the Same as Fact
Today I fell asleep for a short while while sitting there, and I had a very clear dream. In the dream, someone I used to know was sitting on a sofa and talking with me. I saw that he seemed to have changed. His hair was gone. We were speaking almost normally, and at first the atmosphere did not feel especially frightening, but I could sense that he was not exactly the same as before. As we continued talking, he suddenly said, “Look, my eyes have become smaller, and my ears have become smaller too.” In the dream, I tried very hard to open my eyes, and I did see that his eyes were very, very small, and his ears were also very small. But strangely, I did not immediately stop and look carefully. It was as if I had seen it, but had not really taken it in, and then the conversation returned to normal.
Later, he became a little anxious, as if he was reminding me: “Can’t you see it? My eyes, my ears.” At that moment, in the dream, I felt that my eyes were very difficult to open, as if something was pressing them down. I forced them open, and then I saw that there seemed to be a needle hanging through his ear, as if it had pierced through it. The image was very clear and very sudden. Then I kept trying to open my eyes, and I woke up.
After waking, the dream left a strong feeling. It was not like an ordinary dream that disappears quickly. It left behind the feeling of “was there something I failed to see clearly?” A person’s first reaction may be to interpret a dream like this externally: is the other person trying to tell me something, is this some kind of connection between souls, is this something arranged by God that I must execute? But I now look at this feeling more carefully. A dream can feel very real, but that does not mean it is real-world information, and it does not mean it can become a command for action.
I would rather first place it back within perception and judgment. Recently, I have been thinking about relationships, trust, people turning away, reality, and seeing clearly. A person suddenly changing, a familiar person becoming unfamiliar, someone repeatedly saying in a dream, “Can’t you see it?”—these images may not be delivering an external instruction. They may be presenting recent feelings in the form of a dream. Smaller eyes feel like not being able to see clearly. Smaller ears feel like not being able to hear. A needle piercing through an ear feels like the pain of hearing something. In the dream, “seeing” and “hearing” were both connected to judgment.
This made me think that in real life, people are often in a similar state. Many things do not fail to appear. They appear, but we do not fully see them at the beginning. Changes in a person, small imbalances in a relationship, shifts in tone, and cracks in trust often do not look obvious at first. People continue speaking with someone because of past familiarity. They ignore discomfort because they do not want to think badly. They avoid looking carefully because they still want to preserve the relationship. By the time someone urgently says, “Can’t you see it?” it may actually be one part of the self reminding another part: something has changed, but you have not truly admitted it yet.
But this still does not mean the dream itself is fact.
A dream can remind a person to notice their feelings, but it cannot confirm reality on their behalf. A person changing in a dream does not mean that the person in real life has necessarily changed in that way. A strong image in a dream does not mean it carries an external command. Pain and warning inside a dream do not mean that after waking, one should contact someone, accuse someone, change a relationship, or carry out any action. A dream is more like an unstable mirror. It may reflect emotion, amplify fear, combine memory, or turn recent thoughts into images. It is worth recording, but it should not be directly believed.
This is what felt important to me today: human perception is not always the same as fact. The stronger the sense of reality, the easier it is to mistake it for reality itself. A clear dream, a strong emotion, or a shocking image can all make a person feel, “This must mean something.” But meaning is not the same as command. Feeling is not the same as fact. A reminder is not the same as conclusion. A person needs to pause between feeling and action, and separate dream, emotion, memory, and reality again.
This also connects to my ongoing concern with human judgment. Judgment does not mean denying feeling. It means not allowing feeling to move directly into execution. After waking, a person can acknowledge that the dream was unsettling, and can also acknowledge that it touched certain worries about relationships. But just because it felt real does not mean it should be treated as confirmation of reality. The more responsible action is to record it, observe it, and return to reality to see whether there are concrete facts, rather than turning the dream image directly into a judgment about another person.
Today’s dream also made me think about how people often look for an external explanation when they are uncertain. If something is an arrangement, then it may feel like one only needs to execute it. If something is a message, then it may feel like reality has already confirmed it. If something is a command, then it may feel like the burden of judgment can be handed away. But the difficulty of being human is exactly here: very often, nothing confirms things on our behalf. Dreams cannot confirm for us. Emotions cannot confirm for us. A strong sense of reality cannot confirm for us. In the end, after waking, human beings still need to look again at reality, distinguish what is only feeling, what is supported by fact, what can continue to be observed, and what must not enter action.
So today, I do not understand this dream as a soul conversation, nor as a command arranged by God. I understand it as a reminder about seeing, hearing, and judgment. It reminds me that some changes in relationships may need to be seen, but seeing should not rush into conclusion. Some feelings are strong, but strength cannot replace fact. Some images are unsettling, but unease itself is not evidence.
A dream can be recorded, but it should not be directly executed. A strong sense of reality does not mean that fact has been established. The stronger the feeling, the more judgment is needed after waking.
The question I am left with today is this: when a dream, an image, or a strong feeling makes something feel “very real,” how can a person avoid suppressing the feeling, while also preventing the feeling from crossing over facts and directly becoming judgment and action?
